High in the Sky

It’s DAD! For Dad’s birthday we got him an hour private flight lesson! He was hesitant to go at first, but had the BEST time! He even flew over the house! Canton was super excited to see dad in the air and wants to go next time!

Off to School!

It is finally hitting us that Canton is becoming full blown KID, not mommy’s little boy. Heading off to preschool this week really put that into perspective. We figured it was time for some more socialization with real school being just a few months away. He goes 2 days a week but has already asked if he can go three days instead of two! This is happening WAY too fast for Mom! But, his school is wonderful! With the director and the undergraduate students the ratio is 5 teachers to 7 kids, so he pretty much has undivided attention! The school doesn’t have a set curriculum, but instead is driven by the interests of the children, so I’m sure a space unit won’t be too far away!

On his first day Canton’s school was visited by a real fire truck and he got to pull the lever to spray the hose! He enjoyed some tire swing time and rode bikes with a boy named Will. Most telling, at the sensory table there were all kinds of tree nuts, Canton preceeded to tell everyone “we’re going to make some patterns, you find the big ones, I’ll get the small ones, and then we’ll go big small big small all in a line, that’s a pattern.” He then told the teacher, “see, we made objects in the Kuiper Belt!” Oh man, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next year in K.

Nanny and Rhonda Visit!

SAM_9624

SAM_9620Nanny and Rhonda came up for a visit on Thursday night and left early this morning. We had a great time visiting, playing, and everything in between.

Canton camped out with Nanny in the downstairs bedroom and loved talking to her through the night. Liberty is so excited about all her new clothes and knows Aunt Rhonda will keep her looking beautiful for years to come! Liberty gave lots of sweet laughs for Nanny, though not as many as she made Nanny and Rhonda laugh with all her expressions.

Pap came down with his friend Janice and got a lesson on gravity from Canton. He also showed the cool tricks he learned from Nanny on his NEW BIG WHEEL! Canton also told Nanny she could play the piano, he’d play the drums, and “Rhonda can just…walk around” in their band.

Canton woke up and said “Is it past 4?” and burst into tears because he knew they left. He loves his Nanny SOOOOOOOOO much and can’t wait to see her again! We appreciate them coming so far to see us and are so lucky to have so much love in our family! 🙂

Three Months for Liberty May!

Liberty is beginning to become her own little person! She’s settling into more of a routine these days. She wakes between 430-515 quickly takes a large amount of milk and then goes back down until about 9. She will then wake and want to play, which includes a lot of Canton watching and will eat around 10 and then go back to sleep around 11 until 12, awake 12-230, sleep another 30 mins or so, and she continues to be awake until 8 or so, sleeps for another 45mins, then usually is down for the night around 10:15 or so. She sleeps great overnight, usually waking around 5, which we are thrilled about!

She is starting to become more social, she’s always had an adorable smile for mom, dad, and big brother since she was a week old, but she gives great ones to friends and neighbors now too. Her laugh is so sweet and she isn’t hard to please. She doesn’t do a whole lot of talking, Canton handles most of that for her, but I swear she says “mama” and “no” when she wants her mommy. Canton loves to hear her talking and frequently reports what he thinks she has said! Mostly, Liberty is just wants to snuggle and watch her brother.

Yesterday she banged her head at the top of her crib from all the pushing she’s doing with her feet to try to go from back to stomach. She’s not a huge fan of tummy time, but who is? She’s all about bearing weight on her legs and keeps her head aligned when pulled to sitting. We’re a little concerned about her right eye being a little too close to her nose and she only tracks about 150 degrees, so that’s something we’re working on and need to keep watch.

Her favorite toy, beside her hands that is, is her taggie blanket and rattle doll. Aunt Rhonda just brought her a few teethers so they’ll be added to the rotation soon.

She is holding her head and keeping her balance like a champ, though still not a fan of the bumbo, nothing beats her bouncy seat.
