Liberty at Five Months

Hard to believe Liberty has been with us for five whole months!

Well, we were hoping she would be sitting, but all she wants to do is stand. She can sit for about 20 seconds on average, before she thrusts herself to try to stand, she sure loves to bear weight on her legs. We’ve resorted to holding her on the peanut ball with one of us holding the bottom of her feet, for the sensation, thanks for the tip Aunt Becky! She loves to hold on to me or the couch though! I can’t believe such a young baby wants to stand all the time! But, we got up to 61 seconds of sitting today! Hopefully only a few more days and she’ll get the hang of it! 🙂

Liberty is still her sweet self. She hardly ever cries and is easily comforted if she does, especially by being held/walking with mama or watching BIG BROTHER! We’ve also learned how ticklish she is under her arms and on her feet! She loves to laugh! Liberty also seems to be saying “hi”. When she sees someone after a time or when she wants some attention she makes a little coo that sounds just like “hi”!

Her sleep habits are still great, definitely can’t complain about 10pm – 7am sleeping, but she is down to one nap a day, which makes chores a little difficult, but hey, I’m only getting up once a night to pump so getting six hours of sleep at a time with a five month old, I count my blessings!

Pap and Janice Visit

Pap and Janice came for a visit today. Liberty was very happy with Pap, even though she’s entered that stranger anxiety stage she LOVED being held by Pap. Pap even made Mom go out and get some takeout lunch for us, can you believe she left us for 20 mins??? They took good care of us, I mostly entertained them with all my knowledge! See you all soon!

Canton Goes Wrestling

Canton and Dad traveled to UVA today to watch the Cavs take on the Hokies! Before the match they attended a Youth Clinic where Canton got to go on the arena floor and wrestle some UVA players and see lots of other kids! He even got a picture with Coach Kevin Dresser, head coach for VT (mom used to babysit for him)!

Canton’s favorites were the heavyweights, maybe he’ll be there one day 😉

Canton’s Field Trip

Canton ventured out on his first field trip today to the EMU Science Lab, with special guest, DAD! The day started off meeting the group in the lobby to put together some different patterns of colored buttons on a board. Once everyone arrived, the entire class walked over to EMU’s campus and went into one of their science buildings.

Our first stop was some small aquariums where we got to see a Nemo fish and a turtle. From there we went into the anatomy lab and got to hold actual human bones! Canton held a femur, scapula, and ulna! Not everyone can say they’ve done that. There were also lots of models including the human body, a heart, an eye, and an actual human brain! When in the anatomy lab, Canton told everyone what the heart did and even found a part of the brain the instructor couldn’t identify!

From there we went over to the animal exhibits where we saw lots of eggs, animals, rocks, and a 20ft boa constrictor! After leaving the science lab, we went outside to the EMU garden, crossed a really cool bridge, and had snack outside. After snack, we went to the EMU library to see some art work and finally back to the commons building where we started. We all got to run a lap on the indoor track too!

It was a fun day had by all!
