Adleigh is doing a great job practice writing and sounding out her words!
Liberty’s owl is from an art lesson on warm and cool colors 🙂
Adleigh is working on shapes and writing letters.
Liberty is doing capitalization, citizenship, and equations.
Canton again is more traditional, although we did laugh, his science teacher did a fire drill 🤷🏻♀️
Art lesson on primary colors and Romero Britto
Yard laps for PE!
Cutting Shapes
Adleigh’s self bubble map
Pink, popsicles, flamingo. She’s doing great at sounding out words!
Using play dough to make shapes and letters (good fine motor!)
Working out sounds like a champ! These are feelings about school
It was a bit rough getting up this morning but we are ready!
Adleigh read a sweet story called Shelia Rae the Brave and has to draw a picture when she was brave. We worked hard on making sounds to letters, she did a great job!
Lou had a cute lesson on a book called The Dot about making your mark in the world. You then had to make artwork out of a black dot. Of course owls made it into her drawing!
She also had a bit of math and social studies.
Canton took a pretest for history and got 19/20 (this is a test for teachers to see what they already know, it’s not a grade) so unless he has a great teacher that will differentiate for him he might be a bit bored here. The other classes are going well. We have to submit a band video this afternoon, fingers crossed 🙂
They had a snack and recess outside and called this the “Best Friends Picnic”! Oh my heart!
The weather was much cooler on Tuesday, which brought out some of our nature friends
Adleigh has to tell about all the people who live in her house
Getting some math done
Virtual PE is a hit!
Liberty will never do school PE again haha
Adleigh’s “What I Like about Me”
9/17 is Constitution Day and Liberty made a family Constitution, all sounds great to me!
And look at these delicious French rolls!!
Here we come week three, but we are looking forward to the weekend!
A little less technology bumps but still a whirlwind of a morning. It’s so nice to have lunch together!
Homeschool means you can play in the rain!
Ready for a year like no other!
Canton started at 8 and has a pretty traditional schedule. The girls started live at 9 and have a more flexible schedule. We hit some technology snags and having two meetings at the same time was a bit much, but we will get it.
Playing race to 120
Recess for sisters and best friends 🙂
Break between classes = Legos
It was actually sweet they got to eat lunch all together, that definitely would not have happened any other year 🙂
Despite some hiccups we made it through the day. Adleigh seemed excited to engage. Liberty’s teacher is very organized. Canton will have a lot to navigate with all the new classes but he will get it. It’s just another new normal. They are certainly learning to be patient and flexible.
Okay, let’s see what day 2 brings.
2020 sure has changed a lot of the world. School this year will be virtual with some Mrs Murphy homeschooling sprinkled throughout. They would have been heading to new journeys in middle school in sixth, Lou in second, and my peanut would be venturing into kindergarten, but the world had different plans. Although my heart breaks they will not experience school this year I am so thankful to keep the close and hopefully provide them what they need. Fingers crossed!
The VT cheerleader outfit is a 2T! You can look back at older pictures and see how she’s grown! Mike didn’t like how short it was this year 🙂
The mask and tablet pictures really made it real for me, it’s sinking in just how different it is going to be. But, we are thankful and hopeful to grow in new ways.
Since school is going to be virtual for at least the first semester we had to get Canton an official desk setup. Looks like he’s in charge already!
Well she has these words down. We will have lots of practice for the foreseeable future 😉
