Grandma and Grandpa Come for a Visit!

Today, Canton’s grandparents and aunt Beth decided to come down and visit for the day! They were all excited to see how much he had grown and took turns feeding and burping him throughout the day. Once the day was over and things calmed down, Canton decided to kick back, and get some good R&R.

Christy’s version of Patty-Cake is leading in the poll by a slim margin – be sure to get your vote in!  Yes we can!

Pat a cake or Patty cake?

As Canton has been learning new things, one thing his Mom and Dad have taught him is Patty Cake.  Now we need everyone’s help in deciding which “Patty Cake” song to teach him.  Please give us your best Patty Cake song answer below while you check out Canton learning his Patty Cake steps!

Two Weeks!

Canton is two weeks old today!  He went to the doctor yesterday and weighed in at whopping 7 lbs 13 oz!  He is eating a lot more at his feedings, and he is getting good at keeping his parents awake, he was up for almost five hours (from 1115am – 4pm) today.

Below are some pictures of Canton hanging out with dad and playing in his gym.  Mike has already begun his computer education, in one picture Canton looks like he is learning to type.

Grasping the World!

Canton has spent the last couple days working on his new grasping skills and continuing to grow.  We took him outside a few times too, he’s not a big fan of all the sunlight (as evidenced by the squinting face) I guess he’s destined to sit behind a computer like dad! 🙂

A New Man…

Yesterday Canton was nine days old, and he looked like a whole new man to us!  He has spent the last couple days showing off his new bigger face and grasping some toys on his activity gym–we’re quite impressed.  The last picture shows how mad he was at us for making him work so hard, he decided he wanted to wear his “off to grandma’s shirt”.  Canton misses you, but we’ll see you in a few weeks grandma!

I want to see too!

Today was a pretty busy day, but Sean and Sara brought by a delicious meal for us so we didn’t have to cook, many many thanks to the Sharps!

Canton, Mommy, and Daddy were spending some quality Tummy Time today when Canton decided he wanted to see what else there was around him.  So being the big 8 day-old man he is, he decided to lift his head off the mat and explore the world!  It was only for a moment but Daddy was able to take a picture at the right moment!   Next week is his ABCs, followed by bear hunting.

New bed and new threads

Last night Canton spent is first night in his crib and really liked it!  He only woke up twice and let his Mommy and Daddy get some much needed rest!  He also signed his letter of intent with Va Tech which he made public by sporting his VT hat!  Here comes All-ACC 1st team 2029!

One Week!

Canton is officaly a week old today.  I cannot believe how fast time has gone by.  My mom left this morning and now it is all up to me and Mike.  We cannot thank everyone enough for all the calls and well wishes, gifts, and especially the advice of friends and the help of my family over the course of this week, and the last nine months.  We are so lucky to have our friends, to work with such supportive and caring people, and to have been able to spend this last week with my mom and sister.  I would not have gotten through this without them.

Here are some random pictures taken over the past week, including coming home, meeting the VIPs, and leaving for the first doctor visit:

Canton picks a college

Canton’s aunt Becky decided to try and persuade him into becoming a Florida Gator.

As you can see here, he wasn’t too happy about that choice.

Later he decided to let his true feelings be known and threw up all over his new Gators Tee.

But eventually Canton calmed down after Mom said it was an ‘okay’ school and it could be his backup choice.  He still has VT as his top choice, pending his football scholarship offer of course.

Tummytime!

Canton has tried out some new things over the last few days.  He hasn’t taken to his vibrating chair yet, but tummytime was quite successful!  He turned his head from side to side and lifted it to 45 degrees.  Below are some pictures with dad and aunt Becky, who is quickly becoming  his go to girl!
