I like THINGS!

It’s offical–Canton is finally entertained by things!  After weeks of us thrusting toys upon him he’s really starting to interact with them within the past week.

Here he is tracking his puppy dog rattle, he can follow objects 180 degrees quite well…

Playing with the stereotypical infant toy, debuting today, keys!  He wasn’t sure about them at first…I like THINGS! 032

but he soon changed his mind

After a few minutes he wanted his best friend back

Then Canton decided he wanted to sit, but quickly inched himself from propped sitting into propped standing (his favorite position these days)

The best part about today was Canton finally reaching his blue ring in his bouncy seat!  He’s been grabbing the lower side rings for a few weeks, but out of nowhere he got them today!!!

I wasn’t able to capture a picture of it, but he was pretty proud of himself from pulling the once unreachable ring and thrilled when he saw HE could play the music instead of waiting on mom and dad!!

It is funny how everyday brings new milestones and changes.  We are the luckiest parents in the world! 🙂

Eleven Weeks!

Canton celebrated the eleventh week of his life by continuing to lift himself up on his chest and practicing sitting.  He kills Mike and I with laughter with all his little quirks, like his twenty-minute college style power naps (this boy seriously does not sleep) and how he loves to hold his bottle.  Where is time going??

Roadtrip!

We packed up the car Friday and headed to Mike’s parents for Canton’s first road trip this weekend. On the way up Mr. Nosy stayed awake the whole way, we had to stop about halfway through the trip to feed and change him. It is funny how a three hour trip quickly changes to four hours with a little one.

He had a great time meeting some of our friends and seeing his grandparents again, but Canton most enjoyed meeting his other set of great-grandparents for the first time. He is quite a lucky baby to have two sets of great-grandparents. It was hard being away from home, but worth it to have everyone together to meet our big man.

Laughing Man

Canton has been knocking out many of the fourth month old gross motor milestones, so I was becoming a paranoid mom when he hadn’t laughed (usually happens by the end of three months, and yes I know he’s not there yet).  He’s been squealing in delight for several weeks, I knew a laugh was coming I just had to be patient, which is not my best quality as many of you know.  As luck would have it I got his very first laugh on video!  I feel so blessed to have this time with him to see these unforgetable moments.  Enjoy!  **Video is about 50 seconds long, he laughs in the first 20 and after that it is just me being dumb trying to get him to laugh again.

New Perspective

Canton is holding his head well, so we went for a walk with his carrier with him placed facing outward!  He also enjoys his new vantage point sitting up with support and putting some weight on his legs.  Canton wanted to send a special hello to his fabulous aunt Becky as she is making her cross country journey, we miss you tons! 🙂

Mal and Pap Return

Mal and Pap came back to see me for another visit.  We had a nice weekend of playing, listening to music, playing in my gym, and showing them the sights of our county.  I’ll get to meet my other set of great grandparents next weekend.  I’m very lucky to have both sets of great grandparents!

Growing Man

I had my two month check-up today, I tipped the scales at 11 pounds 9 ounces and am 22.75 inches.  I had two shots today also, mom and dad didn’t handle that too well, but I was a champ.

Here are some pictures of me playing in my activity gym and working on all those gross motor skills, enjoy!

Two Months!

Canton is two months old today.  These milestones are starting to become bittersweet, of course we are so excited and feel so blessed he’s a happy, healthy, growing baby, we just can’t believe how fast time is going.  Next month at this time I’ll be returning to work and I’ll miss our time together tremendously.

Canton spent the day sitting in his new Bumbo seat and listening to music.  He loves to move to the music and enjoyed listening to Mike tell him all about the IPOD, Mike is already making him a techno boy!

Check Kids

Canton attended his first picinic today as we said goodbye to my principal.  I’m so lucky to work with such a great group of people, and I feel blessed to have so many more people in our lives that love Canton.

This year at school five boys were born (only a 3% chance of this occuring by the way!).  Here is Canton with his new friends (from left to right and in birth order with the moms) Drew, Mac, Isaac, Canton, and Camden.  Canton met Mr. Greco who took such good care of us while I was pregnant, and he also got to see Jessica and Angie again!  Mike and I are quite proud of him, he didn’t cry the whole time and seemed to enjoy himself!  He looks forward to playing with his new friends again!

Baby’s First Jamboree

I LOVE music, so mom and dad decided to take me, as well as Becky and Ben, to Floyd’s Friday Night Jamboree. I enjoyed the tunes and won the heart of all the townfolk. Aunt Becky leaves tomorrow for her new job in California, I’m so happy I got to spend so much time with her. She helped me with rolling over more and taught me all about being a Florida Gator, and some funny stories about mom too. I’ll miss you Becky, thanks for being a wonderful aunt!!
